Providing important updates on the 8th Pay Commission (8th CPC):

Commission formation and time frame:

The Government of India has constituted the 8th Pay Commission under the chairmanship of former Supreme Court Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai. The Commission has been given 18 months to submit its recommendations.

Official Website Launched:

The official website of the 8th Pay Commission (8cpc.gov.in) was launched in February 2026. Currently, a questionnaire has been provided there to seek opinions and suggestions from government employees and pensioners.

Effective Date:

The recommendations of the 8th Pay Commission are scheduled to come into effect from January 1, 2026. However, it may take till 2027 for the final recommendations to be made and implemented. Arrears will be available for this interim period.

Salary and Pension Increase:

The minimum salary (basic salary) is expected to increase from the current 18,000 taka to around 400,000 - 51,000 taka in the original form. The minimum pension may increase from Rs. 9,000 to around Rs. 20,500 - 25,740. The proposed fitment factor (fitment factor) is to be between 1.92 and 2.86.
